EBS Law School student Mara attends the LSGL Summer School in Bogotá
Every year, the LSGL Summer School brings together renowned law faculties from all over the world to promote international exchange in research and teaching.
This year, the event took place in Bogotá. With 25 students from 16 different countries, this year's summer school was once again international in character. For Mara, the exchange with students from different legal systems was particularly valuable. "The professors here are great. Their different backgrounds from Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia and Ireland bring a unique global perspective to our discussions and enrich our understanding of complex legal issues," reports Mara.
The lecturers at the Summer School came from universities all over the world, which ensured a diverse transfer of knowledge. The professors impressed not only with their expertise, but also with their inspiring way of teaching. In addition to the informative seminars, there were numerous opportunities for networking, for example at evening receptions and an LL.M Career Fair.
Highlights of the programme included seminars on the right to demonstrate and inequality and climate change. "The legal topics covered are extremely relevant, from civil rights and protest laws to the complex relationship between inequality and climate change - each seminar has broadened my legal knowledge," says Mara. Visits to important places in Bogotá, such as the monument "La Pola" and Monserrate, and participation in excursions and cultural activities, such as learning about Colombian food culture, enriched Mara's stay.
"The legal topics we cover are very relevant. From civil rights and protest laws to the complex links between inequality and climate change, every seminar has broadened my legal knowledge," says Mara. "The free time and excursions were fantastic. Exploring the historic centre of Bogotá and tasting the local delicacies was unforgettable."
For Mara, taking part in the LSGL Summer School was an unforgettable experience. The intensive exchange broadened her horizons and gave her the opportunity to make valuable international contacts. EBS Law School is proud to be part of this global community.
