Volker Bouffier elected to the University Council of EBS Universität
EBS Universität has elected a new University Council. The new member is the former Hessian Minister President Volker Bouffier (CDU).
Volker Bouffier will join the ten-member EBS Universität Council for the next three years with immediate effect. "EBS Universität is Germany's oldest private business university and is based in Oestrich-Winkel and Wiesbaden. With its excellent academic programmes, it is on the right track. I am happy to contribute my experience as a former head of government to the University Council for the further development of EBS," said Bouffier about his new position.
"In Volker Bouffier, we are gaining a personality who has rendered outstanding services to Hesse and has excellent political and economic connections," said Prof Dr Christof Hettich, Chairman of the SRH Board of Directors. "I am certain that our EBS Universität and therefore also our students will benefit from this."
EBS President Günther H. Oettinger also echoed this sentiment after the election: "I am very much looking forward to working with the new University Council and to the gain in experience and expertise provided by Volker Bouffier."
Further results of the election to the EBS Universität Council
The committee around Prof Dr Christof Hettich (Chairman of the Board SRH) and Prof Dr Roland Mattmüller (Deputy Chairman of the Senate), who are part of the University Council by virtue of their office, will be supplemented by Prof Dr Andreas Altmann (Rector MCI The Entrepreneurial School) and Jan-Henrik Lafrentz (Member of the Board Finance & IT Bentley Motors Ltd), who remain existing members of the University Council.
Newly elected were Senator h.c. Udo J. Vetter (President European Family Businesses), Dr Elisabeth Denison, MSc, (Chief People Officer Deloitte Germany), Dr Klaus Lesker (CEO RSBG SE) and Astrid Teckentrup (Chairwoman of the Management Board Proctor&Gamble DACH).
Valerie Holsboer, Stephen Brenninkmeijer, Hans Werner Reinhard and Prof Dr Dr Jörg Winterberg, who have rendered outstanding services to EBS in recent years, have stepped down.
Tasks of the University Council
The tasks of the University Council are regulated by the Hessian Higher Education Act. According to this law, it has the task of supporting the university in its development, articulating the expectations of the university in the professional world and promoting the utilisation of scientific knowledge. It proposes measures that serve to raise the university's profile and visibility as well as its performance and competitiveness. It promotes the development of the University and, together with the President, ensures compliance with the provisions of the Hessian Higher Education Act.
