EBS European Institute

For a strong Europe: The EBS European Institute as a Centre for Innovation and Stability. The EBS European Institute is dedicated to enhancing the economic stability of Europe. In response to ongoing geopolitical challenges, it tackles critical economic, legal, and political issues. To achieve this, the Institute integrates European-focused initiatives across research, teaching, further education, and consulting from EBS Business School, EBS Law School, and EBS Executive School.

About the institute

For a European perspective in the world

We think and act beyond national borders to make informed decisions in a globalised world—a vision EBS embraced early on. Since our founding in 1971 as the European Business School, we have prioritised the European perspective in our research and teaching. The EBS European Institute now amplifies this orientation, consolidating Europe-centered activities into one cohesive entity. The interdisciplinary approaches developed within the Institute aim to enhance the stability, innovation, and competitiveness of the European economy. At the EBS European Institute, we integrate business, law, and politics, fostering synergies and sharpening the perspective of future leaders on European challenges and opportunities.

The EBS European Institute tackles Europe’s most pressing challenges. It serves as a forum for individuals passionate about shaping Europe’s future, connecting key players from industry, academia, and institutions to foster a shared European identity. Together, these stakeholders work to implement transformative changes, as outlined in influential reports such as the Draghi Report and the Letta Report. The Institute anticipates emerging trends and delivers innovative insights from research and teaching, ensuring their practical application in the business world. By equipping Europe’s future leaders with the skills and mindset to lead responsibly, courageously, and innovatively, the Institute paves the way for a prosperous European future.

The EBS European Institute fosters collaboration among top international executives across diverse sectors, addressing critical future challenges and co-developing solutions with industry experts. These insights are seamlessly integrated into the Institute's educational programmes. Both research and teaching adopt an interdisciplinary approach, spanning economics, law, and politics. A European perspective is embedded throughout, ensuring students are well-equipped to tackle complex issues with a forward-looking mindset.

Günther H. Oettinger, president of EBS Universität and former EU commissioner
Our mission as a private university with international aspirations is to combine our strengths and make a substantial contribution to economic stability in Europe. That is why the EBS European Institut is a passionate matter for me.
Markus Ferber | Chairman of the Hanns Seidel Foundation and Member of the European Parliament
When it comes to competitiveness, nothing less is at stake than our future prosperity. Europe has lost a massive amount of competitiveness in recent years. We now urgently need a political turnaround. Competitiveness must once again become a top priority.
Martin Schulz, chairman of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and former president of the European Parliament
Europe needs excellently trained people in all positions in order to survive in global competition. The EBS Europa Institute makes an important contribution to the promotion of talent and contributes to the dissemination of knowledge and new ideas. Europe and our economy will benefit enormously from this.

Research and Education

The EBS European Institute addresses the pressing questions of our time, particularly the challenges facing the 10th term of the European Parliament from 2024 to 2029. Its research programme focuses on future-relevant topics, including European competitiveness, deregulation, innovation driven by business and education, security and defence, and sustainability. All research activities are practice-oriented, enabling businesses to apply the findings directly.

The Institute ensures that research insights are integrated into the course content and continuing education programmes at EBS University. Law, economics, and politics are closely interwoven, exemplified by the new interdisciplinary degree programme, Law, Politics & Economics. This programme underscores the Institute's commitment to practical teaching. Our mission is to prepare courageous, responsible, and visionary leaders who will shape the Europe of tomorrow.
