Civil law regulates the legal relationships between private individuals, while commercial law is a special form of private law tailored to the needs of merchants. Company law covers the law of private associations - such as public limited companies - as well as the ‘co-operative’ obligations of partnerships. Finally, banking law contains the legal rules required to secure and enforce the concept of money. In the background is the state's interest in a functioning and stable financial market. Teaching provides the necessary knowledge in these areas of law. The Chair covers the entire spectrum of property and company law. In the specialisation area, the Chair also provides in-depth training in banking and capital market law.
