All of the research projects presented here have been nominated for the EBS Research Impact Award, which is given annually to research with particular practical relevance.

Revolutionizing the medical IoT by identifying the essential capabilities needed for success Prof. Gutmann’s and his team’s research unveiled critical capabilities for MedTech companies with a single-site case study in the dynamic digital healthcare landscape. These key findings resonated widely, gaining recognition from students, conferences, fellow researchers, and industry partners. Their impact extended beyond academia, guiding strategic redefinition in practice.
Quantifying the benefits of enhancing environmental and social conditions within supply chains Prof. Hartmann's empirical studies shed light on the challenges of global sourcing. She provides novel insights into the successful integration of sustainability principles across supply chains. Analyzing stakeholder expectations and highlighting the link between global transportation and climate change, her research has reached practitioners, politicians, and the public.
Inspiring climate action: Leveraging psychology to communicate need for change We acknowledge climate change, yet we often continue with business as usual. How to initiate change? Prof. Bechtoldt researches psychological factors that motivate action on climate change and has gained considerable attention. She investigates predictors and moderators for behavior, was invited by the EU to train journalists, and makes psychological knowledge accessible to non-academic audiences.
Launching a hub for social entrepreneurship Prof. Kreuzer has initiated the creation of a Social Entrepreneur Hub that addresses pressing social and environmental issues while fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. Extensive research, best practices, and a SWOT analysis resulting in an 88-page roadmap lay the foundation for this transformative initiative that has been accepted by the city council of Wiesbaden and is set to launch in 2023
Overcoming dependencies - Insights on north-south partnerships in social enterprises To address global challenges, Carina Keller, Vera Schwarzmann, and Prof. Kreutzer studied how to establish successful partnerships between organizations in the Global North and the Global South to create sustainable entrepreneurial solutions. Their findings were echoed through impactful workshops at universities and conferences and incorporated as feedback to the social business partner.
Understanding how large corporations could prevent traffic collapses in urban areas In their series of studies, Prof. Henkel and Dr. Timmer analyzed how large corporations can shape traffic in an age of urbanization. By encouraging a switch from mono-modal car to multi-modal commuting, firms can contribute to reducing traffic and related outcomes. Currently under review in a top journal, the study even led to the introduction of feasible new mobility packages at SAP.
